Job Description:

The National Amusement Deputy Director is responsible for leading AQI’s expansion into the amusement and redemption channel, the network of theme parks, family entertainment centers (FECs), and family resorts.   Primary focus for the National Amusement Deputy Director will be building AQI’s account base in this channel from the ground up.  This is a rare, built-for-growth opportunity: AQI already brings 20+ globally recognized character brands to the table, so the right candidate can hit the ground running rather than build a brand portfolio from scratch. While the title is Deputy Director, this role carries director-level accountability for forecasting, planning, account strategy, and P&L performance for the channel, with a clear path to grow into the Director title as the business scales. We’re seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The qualified candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of direct, hands-on selling and business development experience specifically within the amusement, redemption, and prize industry. Experience limited to general toy retail, adult collectible, or fandom/pop-culture consumer products does not satisfy this requirement. Candidates must bring an existing, active network of relationships across theme park, FEC, and family resort buyers and operators, ready to activate immediately upon hire.

The position will report directly to the Executive Director of Sales and will involve executing AQI’s amusement channel plan to maximize overall corporate sales and profit goals. The Deputy Director will own the channel’s P&L, annual budget, and multi-year account strategy, and will be held accountable for forecasting, planning, and financial accountability standards. This individual should show initiative and can develop sales programs for assigned accounts through creative and innovative planning. Travel is required both domestically and internationally for participation in trade meetings and industry relevant trade shows.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct responsibility for identifying, cultivating, growing, and managing key accounts across theme parks, family entertainment centers (FECs), and family resorts in the amusement and redemption channel.
  • Create and implement short/medium/long-term channel strategies in conjunction with management and corporate objectives, executing the Scope, Pilot, and Scale phases of AQI’s amusement channel plans.
  • Develop and coordinate promotional and co-marketing programs with key strategic amusement partners for new product launches and seasonal selling periods.
  • Identify buyer influences, redemption and prize trends, and product needs, converting them into AQI’s owned and licensed brand categories.
  • Establish and maintain deep relationships at each key account, including buying, planning, operations, and management contacts.
  • Build and maintain the AQI Amusement Channel catalog in partnership with Merchandising, Product Development, and Design teams to ensure products are positioned correctly for redemption and prize formats.
  • Weekly account specific sales analytics and appropriate action plans, maximizing sales and minimizing risk, and building long term vendor and retailer relationships.
  • Forecast account product needs and achieve budgeted sales goals at established profit margins, reporting revenue against the channel’s financial scenarios. Own full P&L accountability for the Amusement channel, including annual budget development, margin management, pricing strategy, and profitability reporting to the Executive Director of Sales and executive leadership.
  • Develop and present the channel’s annual and multi-year account strategy, forecast, and business plan to executive leadership, including risk assessment and contingency planning.
  • Bring and immediately activate an existing network of senior-level relationships across theme park, FEC, family resort, and redemption/prize industry buyers and operators to accelerate account acquisition from day one.
  • Lead quarterly and annual business reviews with executive leadership on channel performance, account pipeline, and strategic initiatives.
  • Domestic and international travel is required for trade meetings and relevant trade shows.
  • Represent AQI at industry trade shows, including IAAPA Expo, Amusement Expo International, and NJAA.
  • Participate as requested in internal line reviews with Merchandising, Product Development, Licensing, and senior management.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams in the company as required.
  • Build, lead, and develop the Amusement channel team as it scales, including management of future hires and the hiring process.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years in amusement national account and business development sales; experience in the amusement, redemption, and licensed consumer products industry is an absolute must. General toy retail, adult collectible, or fandom/pop-culture consumer products experience does not meet this requirement and is not an acceptable substitute.
  • Direct experience with the amusement and redemption industry: crane and claw machine operators, FEC operators, or plush and prize suppliers.
  • Established, active relationships with theme park, FEC, and family resort buyers, procurement teams, and redemption/prize operators, sufficient to generate near-term account activity without a ramp-up period.
  • Prior experience owning P&L, budget, or account-strategy accountability at a senior individual-contributor or management level.
  • A hungry, motivated leader who wants to grow into a Director-level role as the channel and team scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to assimilate into a fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture.
  • Strong creative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled negotiator with experience owning pricing strategy, program terms, and co-marketing agreements with national accounts.
  • Comfortable representing a company at industry trade shows and building relationships with buyers and operators face to face.
  • Proactive, highly organized, with efficient time management skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • A proven track record delivering financial results.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
