Job Description:

Aliquantum International Inc. is seeking a Licensing Manager to oversee and manage Licensors, Licensees, and Master License contracts as well as in-house IP management. In this role, the Licensing Manager will be responsible for negotiating and managing licensing contracts, renewals and amendments, and solicitation and management of sub-licenses. This role will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with licensors and licensees while ensuring contract compliance while also seeking expansion opportunities and strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in negotiating contracts, strategic planning, relationship management and collaboration with stakeholders. This role coordinates with AQI’s regional teams across North America, UK, Japan, Thailand and China offices to manage licensing activity across AQI’s global markets.

 

Specific Duties:

To manage three business pillars of licensing within AQI licensing division, (1) AQI’s General Licensing, (2) Global sub-licensing, (3) In-House IP licensing management.

 

AQI’s General Licensing

  • Contract and Deal Memo Negotiations, Management, Renewals, and
  • Structure and negotiate Minimum Guarantees, advances, and royalty rate terms as part of contract negotiations, balancing AQI’s commercial interests with partner relationships.
  • Royalty Management, Forecasting, Reporting, and general Administration internally and
  • Future Licensing Strategies: Current channel expansion, territory expansion, category expansion, new sales strategy channels (mass/drug/value), and IP genres expansion.
  • Accountable for calendarized business reviews (by partner)

 

  • In partnership with sales and senior leadership, identify new business and revenue opportunities, and work with Licensors to provide coverage on all contractual needs, with a focus towards expanding AQI’s current and prospective extensions
  • Ensure licensor requests are researched and responded to in a timely fashion
  • Research & understanding competitive landscape
  • Analyze and understand market trends, consumer trends, and retailer and industry needs
  • In partnership with Royalties, analyze account performance and develop growth plans by key licensor(s) and product lines
  • Partner with Sales and Joint Business Planning teams in assortment, retail planning, and sales pitches where relevant
  • Work with PD, Design and Marketing teams to ensure AQI is compliant with all contractual rights and protocols
  • Partner with Merchandising and Creative teams to support innovation and go-to-market strategies
  • Act as liaison between AQI Product Development and Licensor Product Development as needed
  • Ensure Licensor materials, and periodic updates are shared across AQI divisions
  • Act as the contact window for all licensing related

 

AQI’s MSTR License Contracts

  • Global Sub-License solicitation and relationship
  • Royalty Management, Forecasting, Reporting, and general Administration internally and
  • Identify Future Licensing Strategies: Current channel expansion, territory expansion, category expansion, new sales strategy channels (mass/drug/value), and IP genres
  • Accountable for calendarized business reviews (by partner)
  • Identify new business and revenue opportunities with a focus towards expanding AQI’s current and prospective extensions
  • Ensure licensee requests are researched and responded to in a timely fashion
  • In partnership with Royalties, analyze account performance and develop growth plans by key licensee(s) and product lines.
  • Work with licensee(s) PD, Design and Marketing teams to ensure licensee is compliant with all contractual rights and protocols.
  • Ensure Licensor materials, and periodic updates are shared with
  • Act as the contact window for all licensing related topics between Brand Owner and

 

AQI In-House IP Management

  • Global Sub-Licensee solicitation and management
  • Honeymaru, jellybeet, and Kiyora brand management, and future IP development
  • Contract and Deal Memo Negotiations, Management, Renewals, and
  • Royalty Management, Forecasting, Reporting, and general Administration.
  • Identify Future Licensing Strategies: Current channel expansion, territory expansion, category expansion, new sales strategy channels (mass/drug/value).

 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both licensors and
  • Create and execute comprehensive licensing strategies that align with the company’s overall objectives across all licensing avenues, including revenue growth and market
  • Identify potential licensing partnerships, negotiate terms, and ensure compliance with all contractual obligations.
  • Track royalty payments, expenses, and revenue related to licensing
  • Report to AQI’s Senior Management and collaboration with internal teams, such as finance,

sales, marketing, design, etc., to streamline licensing processes and operations

  • Report royalties and royalty projections to
  • Partner with Legal on contract drafting, redlines, and enforcement, and monitor for unauthorized use or distribution to protect licensor and AQI brand integrity.
  • Represent AQI at industry trade shows and licensor showcases, including the Licensing Expo, New York Toy Fair, Spielwarenmesse, and other events on AQI’s annual trade show calendar; some travel required.

 

Key Performance Indicators

  • License and sub-license renewal rate across the existing partner
  • Timeliness and accuracy of royalty forecasting and reporting to Licensors and AQI
  • Growth in licensing revenue and new deal volume across the General Licensing, MSTR, and In-House IP pillars.

 

Leadership and Management

  • Serve as the licensing ambassador across cross-functional teams. Show up with a clear point of view, energy, and deep knowledge at every stage and in every partner interaction where the business is represented.
  • Actively participate in conversation with sales and design teams in all activities and key milestone meetings.
  • Currently an individual contributor role owning the licensing function end to end; as licensing volume grows, this position may expand to include direct reports, so strong coaching and people-development instincts are a plus.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Licensing, Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or related

field).

  • 8+ years of Licensing, Merchandising, or Brand Management, preferably within the Collectable Products, Consumer Products, Gift, or Retail industries.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Hardlines and Softlines
  • Experience structuring and negotiating Minimum Guarantees, advances, and royalty rate
  • Strong understanding of approval software such as MMB
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple

 

  • Experience working in highly matrixed and/or global product companies a
  • Proven ability to operate in fast-paced, complex environments, balancing multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders.
  • Strength in cross-functional leadership and communication, influencing partners across

merchandising, sales, and design.

  • A data-informed mindset, using insights and performance metrics to guide decisions and improve outcomes.

 

Preferred Experiences

  • Demonstrated understanding of the collector consumer segment, and how licensing ties into these critical sectors.
  • Project management software com, My Media Box etc.
  • Experience with ERP systems (AQI uses ERP-ONE+) and CRM platforms (HubSpot).
  • Experience developing strategic partnerships across Hardlines/Softlines.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive execution against financial
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence a diverse audience including experience

working with external partners and business owners.
